Something’s Cooking at Sheraton Maui Resort

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa kicks off the summer with two tasty new experiences.  “Culture & Culinary,” an interactive gourmet series, highlights indigenous Hawaiian culture, locally sourced ingredients and island beverages through one-hour talk story sessions and cooking demonstrations. The twice-monthly events at Black Rock Lounge begin with the resort’s cultural advisor, Jack Stone, who will discuss the history, origin and cultural significance of a featured ingredient and its use in traditional Hawaiian cooking. Executive Sous Chef Lederer will then lead an interactive cooking demonstration, creating a delicious dish for guests to taste while sharing tips on preparation and flavor profiles. Island beverages will enhance the series, with custom craft beer samplings from Maui Brewing Company that pair well with each featured ingredient.

The Distiller Series will be led by Mark Nigbur, master distiller of Hali‘imaile Distilling Company, who will educate guests on Hali‘imaile’s Pau Maui Vodka, FID Street Gin and Paniolo Whiskey, while a local guest mixologist mixes craft cocktails to sample. Chef Lederer will create a pupu menu using ingredients and flavors that accentuate the cocktail combinations.  The complimentary events are open to hotel guests ages 21 and over. Guests who attend the events can take advantage of happy hour drink pricing and 25 percent off dinner at Black Rock Lounge or Black Rock Kitchen.
