#GoBeyondWaikiki

January 2, 2018

From beautiful beaches to the year-around warm tropical weather, Hawaii is such a special place for many reasons. But the one thing that truly sets Hawaii apart from any other destination around the world is aloha spirit. While aloha expresses love, compassion or kindness and is often used as a simple greeting; in our Sheraton ‘ohana the aloha spirit is a commitment to our guests and a promise to go beyond for them each and every day.

Whether helping you plan a day full of activities, mixing up the perfect Mai Tai by the pool or keeping your room clean our Sheraton ohana is here to make sure your stay is truly memorable from check in to check out. Going beyond for our guests is what we do best!

We value the opportunity to recognize associates who go beyond on the job and in the community. Arthur Galamgam, a member of the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani’s Bell Desk team exemplifies the true meaning of aloha day in and day out and is our #MahaloMonday associate of the week!

Having spent the last 20 years welcoming guests who come and go at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Arthur has had the chance to meet many wonderful visitors and helped to make their stay with us memorable. From helping guests locate lost luggage to organizing a last minute shuttle to the airport or providing helpful insights on things to do and places to see on Oahu, Arthur is one of the first friendly faces guests meet when they arrive at the hotel.

Arthur doesn’t skip a beat when it comes to going beyond for guests and is always willing to help in any way possible, most times without even having to be asked. One such occasion was when a guest lost her cell phone and laptop computer in a taxi on her way from the hotel to a meeting in downtown Honolulu. Panicked, the guest called the hotel to ask for help. Arthur quickly connected with each and every taxi driver that came through the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and within an hour, the taxi driver was located and the items were returned to the hotel. Without hesitation, Arthur even took it upon himself to personally deliver the guest’s cell phone and laptop to her downtown. Needless to say the guest was extremely grateful!

Just this past summer, nearly 10 years later, this guest returned to the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and instantly remembered Arthur and how he had helped her find her lost cell phone and laptop. While it may have just been another normal day for Arthur, it was something the guest never forgot! It’s moments like these that truly show how special our Sheraton Princess Kaiulani associates are!

We also had the chance to chat with Arthur and find out from his point of view what it means to go beyond as well as get a few recommendations on what to do while on vacation:
