#MahaloMonday: Yi Xiang Song

February 26, 2018

Famed scholar and French novelist Marcel Proust once wrote: “Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”  Never were more true words written, and Housekeeping Manager Nick Kodani mirrors Proust’s sentiments when speaking of Yi Xian Song.  “Song always comes to work in a good mood, and is always smiling,” says Kodani, smiling himself in recollection.  “Her positive energy is just downright infectious!”  And positivity is something we’d all like to catch, including the guests with which Song interact, whether it be in passing or through active conversing.

Accordintto Kodani, each of these guests who come into contact with Song come away from the encounter feeling truly cared for, and most welcome.  “Song really cares about her guests,” Kodani reiterates.  “Yet, she is so humble about it all.  I truly just don’t think she realizes how very special she is.”  Speaking of really caring, Kodani goes on to regale us with specific instances of Song’s extra concern and diligence, revealing just why Sheraton Waikiki regards Song as being a bright shining star!

“I want to make our guests happy…if they’re happy they will come back again.  When i make them feel like family, then they’re happy.  When I’m at work, I don’t just represent myself…I represent Sheraton,” says Song.

Don’t miss Song’s top recommendations for our guests to see and do while they’re here on Oahu.

What’s your favorite beach on Oahu?  Waikiki

What’s your favorite local treat that you would recommend visitors must try before they leave? Make sure to try Lau lau because the inside tastes good!

What’s your favorite activity or place on the island you recommend guests visit?  Polynesian Cultural Center because you can learn about the culture.  There’s a show at nighttime that tells a story… I recommend it!
